BLAND SHOOTS 66 IN CHICAGO, EYES ANOTHER HIGH FINISH
SUGAR GROVE, Ill. – Richard Bland continued his excellent form in Saturday’s second round at LIV Golf Chicago, shooting a 5-under 66 that moved him into a tie for 14th on the individual leaderboard.
Bland is at 5 under for the tournament, tied with six other players going into the final round at Rich Harvest Farms. He’s eight shots off the lead, but a low round Sunday could result in a podium finish.
The 50-year-old Bland has been playing well lately as he seeks to secure his spot in next year’s LIV Golf League. The top 24 finishers in the season-long individual standings are guaranteed playing privileges for next year, and Bland entered this week ranked 22nd.
In his last three LIV Golf starts, Bland finished 6th in London, 3rd in Greenbrier and 11th in Bedminster.
As a team, the Cleeks produced a counting score of 9 under on Saturday, leaving them tied for 10th on the team leaderboard at 10 under.
In addition to Bland’s round, Graeme McDowell and captain Martin Kaymer each supplied counting scores of 69. McDowell is 3 under for the tournament and Kaymer is 1 under.
Bernd Wiesberger shot a 1-over 72 and is 1 over for the tournament.
